My name is Matt Stevens. I am originally from North Carolina, so you will have to forgive me as I cheer for the Carolina Tar Heels. I have been in the US Air Force serving as a SERE Specialist since 2004. My fitness has been geared towards functional fitness through Special Warfare training since 2009. I have been coaching in and around functional fitness gyms since 2012. I have a deep passion helping others and watching them succeed and reach their goals. I may not be the biggest, fastest, strongest or most fit person in the gym, but my eagerness to watch our members and gym expand is astronomical.
In 2020, I got to team up with UFC fighter Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson and blast through the workout "Harvell", a hero WOD dedicated to SSgt. Andrew Harvell. Later that year, I was invited to compete in the first ever Spartan Games presented by Spartan and Harley Davidson. Myself, along with 23 other top athletes from around the world competed head-to-head at various events over a 4 day period.
I would love to bring that intensity to you at every class I coach. Come on out and let us ignite your fitness at ShotFire Fitness.
"...3, 2, 1, FIRE IN THE HOLE"
My name is Lane Legg. I began doing functional fitness in the summer of 2008 when the boot camp classes I'd been taking morphed into functional fitness classes, unbeknownst to us. Our boot camp trainer went away one weekend, and when he came back on Monday morning instead of our usual workouts with treadmills, dumbbells and machines, we were throwing medicine balls to targets, using barbells and pvc pipes, moving from one exercise to the other with no rest between, timing the workouts, and writing our times on a white board. I never looked back.
I played many sports growing up including college basketball and softball, and coached high school girls’ basketball for 12 years. I'm proud to have qualified in the top five of the women’s masters division of the WV Open in 2013. I obtained my coaching certification in May, 2016.
I believe that my many years of functional fitness and coaching basketball have given me valuable knowledge that I love passing on to other athletes to help them achieve their goals. One of my favorite things about coaching is seeing an athlete do a movement or make a lift they didn’t think they could. It’s very inspiring.
My name is Amber Pauley. I’ve been a coach for over 5 years now and doing functional fitness for well over ten years. I came about coaching by pure chance and have been very shy most of my life, so it was completely outside my comfort zone. I will never forget having to yell 3, 2, 1…GO for the very first time. I have found a great passion in helping others reach their goals while being motivated by the members to achieve mine. I grew up riding and showing horses but was never someone that participated in sports. Functional fitness has however kept my attention and is a great compliment to my goal-oriented personality. It is truly a fitness approach that can be catered to anyone as long they are willing to give it their all and I have a great passion for our members and helping them achieve their individual goals. Through functional fitness I have found a passion for powerlifting and am currently the holder of numerous world and state records through the United States Powerlifting Association as well as the United States Powerlifting Coalition. I have attended not only the Level 1 certification, but also the mobility, powerlifting, and various other seminars. I hope to attend many more in the future as I feel that even after 10 years at this there is still plenty out there to learn and share with our members.

My name is Tyler Pralley. A resident of the greater Charleston area my entire life, I’ve been involved with sports and fitness in the area for as long as I can remember. I started functional fitness in November 2019 after trying several fitness programs/gyms over the years but ultimately saw functional fitness as a way to get back in to competitive sports while becoming the fittest I could possibly be. After walking in to a local box for the first time during the 2019 Open, I signed up that day and haven’t looked back. My long term desire for my own fitness journey is compete at the sport at a high level and ultimately compete with the best of the best some day.
From 2011-2020, I served off and on (as life allowed) as an assistant high school soccer coach in the area. The experience I gained in coaching high school soccer has lead me to redirect my love for coaching individuals to excellence to the world of functional fitness. Whether your desire is to lead a healthier lifestyle via functional fitness, to compete in competitions at a high level, or anywhere in between, I look forward to helping you meet your fitness needs and goals!
